Our son with food allergies to milk, egg, peanut
and tree nuts was NOT here with us.

Room 3B in Cabin 3 had a slight chemical smell
which dissipated once the windows were open
for awhile.  There was no refrigerator or
microwave in the room.  We were using the two
coolers that we purchased at the beginning of
the week.

We were originally assigned to room 2B in
Cabin 2.  The room smelled like very old nasty
hiking boots, so we requested a new room.  The
manager at the front desk said the resort was
full so they couldn't move us.  She offered to
run an electrostatic air cleaner for an hour.

We insisted on a different room and were
eventually moved to room 4B of cabin 4.  The
room was fairly clean, and expectedly not
luxurious.  There was no refrigerator or
microwave, but we had two coolers full of food
and drink that we had purchased at the Super 1
Foods right after we arrived at the Kalaspell
airport.

The main lobby/gathering room has a large fire
place which usually houses a roaring fire.
There was a smoke smell inside and outside the
main lodge which we could faintly smell at our
cabin.

Room 444 had a spectacular view of the lake and
was clean.  The room did not have a refrigerator
or microwave, but we had two coolers full of
food and drink that we purchased at the Super 1
Foods on our way from the Kalaspell airport.

The main lobby/gathering room has a large
fireplace which usually houses a roaring fire.  I
did not smell any smoke in our room.

During breakfast, I asked our waiter about their
ability to serve a patron with food allergies, and
he told me they can handle food allergies but
left to take care of another table and then
disappeared.  I then talked to the manager about
food allergies and he confirmed they could
handle food allergies, but would have to talk to
one of the chefs to see how they handled the
details such as cross-contamination.  He said he
would get back to me via e-mail.

Before breakfast, I spoke with Eric, the dining
room manager regarding food allergies.  He told
me the chefs are trained to handle food
allergies and are familiar with avoiding
cross-contamination.

Eric told me the kitchen microwave is not
available to be used by patrons, but he
suggested that the microwave at Heidi's
convenience store on the bottom floor of the
lodge might allow patrons to use their
microwave.

He told me that many guests arrive at the hotel
with coolers full of food and do not eat in the
dining room.  Since it is a National Park, many
people are outdoors hiking and bring their food
with them.  I did notice many guests with large
heavy duty coolers arriving during the week.
Eric said the bellmen move as many coolers as
they do luggage.

In case of allergic reaction, Eric said the Park
Rangers are trained to use Epinephrine.  Since
it is a remote location, there is a helicopter pad
close by in case of medical emergency.  The
nearest major hospital is 25 minutes away by
helicopter.
